What was your situation like before we started?
“I have always done sport and had never been bothered by injury. As I got older however I found that I was getting stiffer and suffering more overuse injuries. I was also not looking at my nutrition. I had a typical endurance approach to training which was that more was always better. About 12 months before starting with Simon I developed a hamstring and Achilles injury which despite a number of visits to physiotherapists could not get rid of. I continued to race until the injury started to impact on everyday activities. This led to me getting quite depressed and frustrated.”
Did you have any initial concerns or hesitations?
“I was sceptical that a PT would provide the intensity that I was used to and was nervous that curing the injury would mean a long lay off from running.”
How was your journey with me?
“The journey has been fascinating. By trusting in Simon and setting goals we have achieved all my goals for the year. A year on from starting with Simon I was able to complete a half ironman and my running is now stronger than it was previously. His approach to continuously monitor progress and change things keeps the training lively and I now have a far greater appreciation of the role of conditioning to enable me to participate in my sport. His approach has encompassed all aspects of sports performance including conditioning, flexibility, endurance and nutrition to make me the best I can be.”
How do you feel now? What results have you achieved?
“I now feel far more confident and energised. I have a greater understanding of my body and its biomechanics. I know what to look out for and the exercises that I need to do daily to ensure I can run pain free. I have more confidence to set more ambitious goals and have lost weight and am more toned.”
